Many of the voters don't believe that their active participation in the election is very important.  They lost interest to take part in voting. Why vote? First and foremost, voting is a civil right. Secondly, millions of people around the world have no say in who governs them, so we can't squander our own power. And thirdly, every single vote really does count. For example, Australians who don't vote receive a letter asking why. Those without an acceptable excuse, like illness or travel abroad, must pay a small fine, but the number fined is less than 1 percent of eligible voters. Therefore we have to awake the awareness of the voters in such question. We do it by help of publishing a brochure "Why vote?" (financial support of Internews Network U-Media Program).

IEC "Borazan" has achieved high level of development. The organization implements sundry seminars and trainings by own initiative. Many local activists have got useful knowledge by help of such events.

The organizers.

We have organized the trainings for the public activists to become the organizers. The organizers will challenge ethnic minorities to act on behalf of their common interests. Organizers will empower ethnic minorities to act by developing shared relationships, understandings, and tasks which enable them to gain new resources, new understanding of their interests, and new capacity to use these resources on behalf of their interests. The organizers will work through "dialogues" in relationships, understanding and action carried out as campaigns. They will identify, recruit and develop leadership, they will build community among that leadership, and they will build power out of that community.

The national minorities and indigenous population

One of the main aims of our present work is to teach the national minorities to take part in government of local communities. Our events learn national minorities and indigenous population to use their rights to take part in management of local communities, it learns them to take part in decision-making process on the levels of territorial communities, it opens new possibility for good government in multiple ethnic communities and it learns to live peacefully for all ethnic groups in local territorial communities, because the Law declares equality of all inhabitances of territorial communities. The proposed activity is replicable for equality coexistence of nationalities in multinational regions, because our educational programcan be used by any national minority and indigenous population. We developed it for Crimean Tatars, Germans, Armenians, Greeks and other national minority and indigenous population that are living in Crimea but it is also applicable for all national minorities in Ukraine. National Minorities are very diverse and their participation depends on their groups' resources, willingness, education and the length of their stay in concrete regions. By the help of the activity it is possible to improve considerably their willingness and education. Their ability to participate in the democratic decision making process will be seriously jeopardized by local conditions without such educational activity. To counter these problems, there should be undertaken a sustained educational campaign among the national and ethnic minorities. It is very important that they understand what they are up against. They should not only know the problems but also how to overcome it.   The developing of our educational program is an important and necessary step. Our main media partner is TV and Radio Company "TAV-DAIR". It helps to communicate with media to provide their influence on public opinion about national minority and indigenous population equality.

NGO "Borazan" has been founded in 1995 and has powerful creative and executive capacity. NGO "Borazan" is a founder of TV and Radio Company "TAV-DAIR".
